Bookings & Check-In
Be sure to book to secure your caving tour by booking in advance.
Our trips are popular and bookings are recommended, especially in the summer months.
To secure the most suitable departure time(s), make your booking early.
Check-in time is 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
Photo Policy - Free Photos!
We provide a basic photo service. Our guides take photos on basic cameras and these are provided to clients via internet at no extra charge.
However, please be aware that the focus of our activities is on adventure, not photography.
We have found that the flow of these activities becomes disrupted if clients take their own camera gear.
One person’s photographic dream can be at the expense of others in the group who just want to get on with the adventure.
There are also safety issues e.g. where loose gear could fall and become damaged or even injure someone.
For all these reasons, no client photography equipment is permitted on any activities.
This includes no cameras; no videos; no Go-Pros etc.
If you are a professional photographer and really want to take photos with your own gear, then you can talk to us about arranging an exclusive trip for this purpose.
You are welcome to take your camera to the very start of the activity, but will have to leave it behind in the lockers before you head underground.

What to Bring
This depends of which activity you select as follows:
For TumuTumu ToObing: swimwear, long thick socks (suitable for bush walking); a towel & toiletries for a shower afterwards
For Haggas Honking Holes: swimwear, long thick socks (suitable for bush walking); a towel & toiletries for a shower afterwards
For Lost World 4 Hour Option: loose fitting, comfortable adventure clothing (NOT Jeans) and long thick socks (suitable for bush walking).
For Lost World & Hour Epic: swimwear, long thick socks (suitable for bush walking); a towel & toiletries for a shower afterwards
For St Benedicts Caverns: loose fitting, comfortable adventure clothing (NOT Jeans) and long thick socks (suitable for bush walking).
You just need to arrive in your ordinary street clothes, but have these items with you. We have changing facilities at all our cave sites.
Pricing & Cancellation Policy
Prices are GST (tax) inclusive and also include the use of all necessary equipment (except the minimal “you need” items).
You will be asked to supply a credit card number to secure your activity booking.
Cancellation earlier than 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time incurs no cancellation fees, i.e. they are FREE, UNLESS you have booked an Early Bird deal which is not refundable.
Cancellations later than 24-hours prior to your booked trip will result in your credit card being charged with 25% of the booking value.
We therefore recommend that you do not book an EarlyBird deal unless you are sure that you want it and there will be no changes.
If you are having any sort of problem getting to us on time, please contact us on freephone 0800 WAITOMO (0800 924866) as soon as possible. This could save you cancellation fees and we will help with rescheduling etc where possible.
If you simply fail to turn up for check in of your booked trip, 100% of the value will be charged to your credit card.
Children & Minimum Numbers of Participants
Older Children are welcome on our activities subject to the minimum ages given in Table “A” below.
Any children under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or mature adult known to the child who is aged 18 years and over.
It is critical that any child is sufficiently mature and responsible enough to follow the instructions of the guide.
There are minimum numbers specified in order for any departure of our activities to take place. These are given in Table “A” below.

IMPORTANT : PLEASE NOTE that in the event that the minimum number of clients is not achieved the trip will not depart.
We will do our best to suggest alternative arrangements. This may involve a different activity or combination of activities possibly at a different time.
If this is not possible then we will fully refund a direct sale or if you have purchased a voucher from a travel agent we will support a refund from that agent.
To minimise any inconvenience we ask that all clients re-confirm with us once they are in the country, and before they travel to Waitomo.
We also ask all clients to give us contact details at the time of booking in case of an issue arising.
